IHS COMMITTEES

Although the IHS is administered by the IHS Board Of Directors, various IHS Presidents over time have formed several committees, where certain aspects are delegated to them for in depth consideration.   The current IHS President is automatically a member of all committees and if the committee chairperson is not a member of the BOD, the president is responsible in his place to pass committee recommendations to the IHS Board of Directors for their consideration, i.e., ratification or further discussion and modification if deemed necessary.  With the exception of the IHS Membership committee, all other committees are also independent forums, where members consider topics in their domain.  Volunteers are always welcome and any member of the IHS or affiliates can serve on committees with BOD approval.  Committee membership consist of volunteers working behind the scenes and donating their time to advance the cause of the IHS on several fronts. 

EIHF: Executive International Hibiscus Forum

Established:         January 2006

Objective:            A forum for the discussion of global hibiscus matters at the

executive level.

IHS HOTY, Hibiscus Of The Year Committee Forum

Objective:            Develop SOTY & HOTY program (subject to IHS BOD

                             approval) and judge entries in those programs and the

                             Trimestiral Photo Contest.

IHS Marketing Committee Forum

Objective:            To develop a sponsorship or marketing program.

IHS Membership Committee - No Forum                                

Established:         ? 2001

Objective:            To aid in developing IHS membership. The chairperson of the Membership Committee shall organize, develop and implement ideas to increase membership in the IHS, possibly including writing of articles for publication, press releases, holiday greetings to IHS and non-members on behalf of the IHS, etc.  Such ideas will be presented to the BOD for approval prior to implementation. The Chairperson may appoint members of the IHS or affiliate to assist in this capacity to be approved by the BOD.

IHS Nomenclature Committee Forum

Established:         March 2, 2009

Objective:            To develop a nomenclature team capable of running the IHS Nomenclature program and aid the current IHS Nomenclature Officer.
