IHS
HOTY Hibiscus Of The Year
Selection System
(Updated
Oct 6, 2002)
To encourage
interaction and active participation, the IHS has developed this program
to honor the hibiscus flower our membership deems the most beautiful and
deserving. Details of the HOTY selection process are as follows:
1. Throughout
the year members may send in submissions for flowers they deem worthy
of consideration. This submission
must include a quality digital image or photograph must be sent to purdiejj@optusnet.com.au,
an indication of the size of the flower, parentage (if known) and the
hybridizer’s name.
2.
At
the beginning of the month of December, this list will be narrowed down
to 10 cvs, which will be display on this web site and voted upon by the
membership.
3. Eligibility
of a given cvs for the IHS HOTY is unique in that any unregistered cv
or cvs registered within the past two years are eligible.
It need not have ever been judged in a show.
It will be evaluated solely on the merits of the flower, as the
Internet medium upon which the IHS is based, does not permit more in depth
consideration. This will permit many cvs to be considered
for HOTY recognition that otherwise, although of considerable merit, may
not have been eligible.
4.A
committee may be appointed to oversee this program.
This committee will be empowered to modify this program.
Any changes that have been made may be rescinded by a majority
vote of the membership. This committee
will referee any related points of contention concerning the selection
of the HOTY. Failing the formation
of such a committee, this roll will be reserved for the IHS administrator.
